HELPTSD at the Neve Schechter Gallery

We are pleased to share an inspiring collaboration between the organization and Neve Schechter Gallery — a unique cultural institution in the heart of Jaffa that hosts artistic and spiritual activities centered around themes of identity, dreams, prayer, and community.

This connection began מתוך רצון הדדי — from the gallery’s desire to open its doors to new circles, and from our side, to offer volunteers and soldiers a different kind of space — a creative environment where it is possible to reach deeper places, even without words.

The gallery offers a wide range of experiences from the worlds of spirituality, art, and therapy, which we explore together with our volunteers. We also have the opportunity to host groups of soldiers for unique and meaningful events — all on a voluntary basis and free of charge, as part of the partnership between the organizations.

As part of the collaboration, we participated in two workshops:

Prayer Writing Workshop
During a team-building day for our volunteers, the gallery invited a facilitator to lead a unique activity: a shared prayer-writing session. This workshop invites participants — whether religiously connected or not — to pause and give words to a deep inner wish through intimate and inspiring writing. Each participant wrote a short passage individually, within a supportive and inclusive group environment, and the texts were later combined into a single piece — a kind of modern collective prayer. Those who wished could also share what they had written, but everything was conducted in a free and non-coercive spirit.

Group Dreaming Workshop
Ahead of Passover, we returned to Neve Schechter for a different kind of experience. This time, we entered a unique space designed to allow participants to lie down and rest, while listening to recorded dreams accompanied by immersive soundscapes. Each participant experienced it in their own way — some drifted into sleep, others into imagination or meditation. This was followed by a group processing session where we shared what we had experienced, what we felt, and the thoughts or sensations that arose.
These workshops aim to expose us to the world of dreams — encouraging positive dreams, while also creating a safe space to engage with more complex ones, with the understanding that we all dream, and that sometimes it is within dreams that deep insights about ourselves and the world emerge.

Special thanks to Liron Vardi Geller from the gallery, who leads this collaboration with great care and dedication.

The collaboration with Neve Schechter Gallery continues to grow, and the organization is welcomed to participate in a wide range of the gallery’s programs. The gallery also opens its doors to groups of soldiers and combat service veterans, who can take part in these experiences — and we are excited about what lies ahead.
